Cell Games’ “Relics” deserves to be played as loudly as possible for they unleash a force of nature.

Cell Games – Relics

Hyperactive to its core, Cell Games offers a truly original take on the metal on the intense rush of “Relics”. Done with a sense of pure unbridled tension the anxious rhythm has its own chaotic quality to it. A neat mixture of electronics and rock, the way that the piece evolves gives it a surprisingly organic feel. Over the whole of the production there is an industrial sheen that ties the track together giving it a symphonic approach. By far the true heart and soul of the sound comes from the vocals with every verse carefully balanced for the ultimate maximum impact.

Right from the beginning they set the tone nicely, featuring a riff that threatens to careen wildly out of control. The beats hit with a fury behind them, for the lyrics feel aptly suited for the paranoid mood of the piece. Atmosphere matters a lot and they explore it well with the many textures interwoven to create something truly insane. Within this style they draw it all out, shaping, morphing, and twisting things into something that becomes beguiling to experience. The buildup here feels fantastic for they spread the sound out into the seemingly infinite. Deep in the sound’s very DNA is a certain cyberpunk ethos that helps to radiate on throughout, giving the work that additional edge it needs to get the nightmarish tone just right. For the finale they unleash a pure feverish vision.

Cell Games’ “Relics” deserves to be played as loudly as possible for they unleash a force of nature.
