Micah Thunder – Nobody

Micah Thunder offers an updated approach on psychedelic meets Britpop on the infinitely catchy “Nobody”. Everything about this is huge, from the riffs to the hit of the drums. Quite a gigantic presence to it the whole of the song soars up into the sky. Volume is a given for they make sure that there is a physicality to the piece, a symphonic bliss to it. The true heart and soul of the piece comes from the intense power of the vocals. Lyrics drip with surrealism for they revel in exquisite word choice completely confounding listener expectations. Darting about, their sound draws a bit from Of Montreal, The Beatles, and similarly minded groups obsessed with silky smooth warm atmospheres.

The first moment sets the tone for what follows. Melody gets set and from there the rather dreamy disposition of the sound works wonders. Over the course of the experience, they make sure that there is an evolution of sorts. By keeping a degree of patience about it, there is a bit of happiness that radiates through the entirety of the piece. Flourishes abound for the crashes of the cymbals further add to it, for there is a virtual wash that runs on through. Full of a great amount of balance they make sure that the fragile elements virtually want to swirl about. By the final rush it all has a delicacy to it, the lyrics featuring pure poetry.
