The New Nostalgia - Ibis Budget

The New Nostalgia brings a serious slab of punk with the uncompromising spirit of “Ibis Budget”. From the angular guitar riff attack to the strength of the percussion itself, the whole of the piece works itself into a frenzy. Lots of the layering works in favor of the vocals gaining that additional power to it. By allowing the rest of the song to emphasize his English vocals they have a throwback quality to them. Resting alongside the best of classic punk rock their snide delivery feels fantastic as the many lyrics play off each other. A true ability of the sound’s quality is how the wildness of the work feels righteous in its demeanor.

Riffs have a steadiness to it for the song bursts at the seams from the very first moment. The shouted vocals have a communal presence all about them, emphasizing the sheer space of the very piece. With each reiteration the track has a colossal tact to it, one that draws from Swell Maps’ post-punk legacy. Drums hit with this reckless abandon as they keep a steady, unwavering pace over the whole work. Over the course of the piece, they have a directness to them. Filtered fully and completely, they make sure that the song has a commanding presence to all of it helping to give it that right degree of punk’s unruly spirit.

“Ibis Budget” shows off the undeniable chops of the New Nostalgia as they create a sound that has an atmospheric quality to it.
